"Presently, we were aware of an odour gradually coming towards us, something musky, fiery, savoury, mysterious, -- a hot drowsy smell, that lulls the senses, and yet enflames them, -- the truffles were coming." William Makepeace Thackeray (1811-1863). Ground truffles are mixed with sea salt to create a salty, earthy, spicy-peppery seasoning. You'll probably want to sprinkle it over everything, but we've settled pretty comfortably into embellishing our steaks, pasta, popcorn, and roasted and mashed potatoes with it.
