During the holiday months of November and December, you start to see what appears to be fruit displays colorfully adorning shop windows across Palermo, Sicily, but upon closer inspection, these miraculous fruits are astonishing replicas made from almond marzipan called frutta martorana. The fruits are made using molds for the marzipan, then decorated painstakingly by hand to create delicacies almost too beautiful to eat. A wonderful gift or sweet treat for yourself.
