Planeta extra virgin olive oil comes from the noted DOP Valle di Mazara. Planeta is composed of Nocellara del Belice (50%), Cerasuola (30%) and Biancollila (20%) olives.
An intense fruity aroma and flavors are herbaceous, with elements of citrus, artichokes, and tomato leaf and even herbs such as flat leaf parsley and sweet basil. The flavor is full and layered with a moderate spicy-peppery finish with nutty almond notes. Minimal bitter characteristics. Recommended pairings include tomatoes and mixed salads, grilled vegetables, firm cheeses, and even a topping for vanilla ice cream. (If you have time, make olive oil ice cream).
