M. BARBERA | SKU: EVO-129
Harvested by hand during the second week of October, this unique oil uses a single olive variety (100% Nocellara del Belice), where the stone (pit) of the olive is extracted first eliminating the bitter component of the olive. This process creates a dense, bright and golden oil of noted creaminess with a delicately spiced aroma. The Barbera family has been producing Sicilian olive oil in Palermo since 1894. This olive oil was created to celebrate three generations of the Lorenzos in the Barbera family and is a 2014 Sofi award winner!
The largest of Italy's twenty provinces and the largest island in the Mediterranean, Sicily sits just off the "toe" of Italy's boot. Monuments the island's rich history abound, from the famed Valley of the Temples to the immaculate Byzantine mosaics at Cappella Palatina. The cuisine here claims a number of influences from across the Mediterranean world -- Greek, Spanish, French and Arab have all at one point inhabited the island, infusing it with their respective culinary traditions.
