In 1900, John Volpi arrived in America from his home in Milan, Italy. Longing for the vibrant tastes of his homeland, John founded Volpi foods in 1902. From his small storefront in St. Louis, John delivered authentic Italian cuisine to a new audience. Today, the Volpi continues to live out John's dream, supplying Americans across the country with fine Italian fare made from exceptional ingredients.

I was not real satisfied with my recent purchase of 5 Filzette salamis'from Volpe. They were quite soft, hard to slice, and did not appear to be real fresh. Flavor wasn't as good as previous purchases of same item. Although I paid $25 for 2 day shipping, the package arrived with no ice--just the box with the contents. So what did I pay for? Anyway, will probably look elsewhere in the future. Too bad, cause I've really enjoyed the products in the past. Quality did not appear to be up to standards. Plus the shipping cost is crazy for what one gets.

I have been purchasing Volpi salami since residing in STL more than 25 years ago. My highly dependable service response has been through Ditalia and is greatly appreciated. Response time is rapid, shipping is excellent and company followup important. I know of no other service equal to Ditalia.

"Very tangy. This salami reminds me a lot of the fine-ground, salty, heavily garlic laden salami that is popular in Austria. The texture tends to be a bit soft, so it's a good idea to refrigerate it thoroughly before serving (which is good to do with any kind of salami anyway.)"
