In 1826, Pier Paul Caffarel opened his chocolate shop in a former tannery at the edge of Turin. Over the years his shop received considerable acclaim for its innovative new recipes, including the beloved Gianduiotto. Today Caffarel remains faithful to the Piedmontese chocolate tradition, crafting new and delicious confections from fine Italian ingredients.

The Piedmont region sits at the foot of the alps, bordering France and Switzerland. Its soaring mountains and rolling plains are home to some of Italy's most beloved cuisine, from egg-rich pastas to rich, salty cured meats. While food culture here is rooted in tradition, new and exciting variations are always just around the corner.

The Caffarel Traditional Panettone was great. Very subtle addition of candied citrus, perfect cake texture, excellent yeast aroma. I have never rec'd anything but the best panettones from Ditalia. You cannot go wrong with this panettone.
