Cured Meats "Salumeria"
Salumi is one of those words that outside of Italy can be often confused with a particular meat product called Salami. Salumi is a term that refers to the complete family of cured meat products, Salami, being one of the products. While many types of salumi need no introduction, like prosciutto and salami, there are also many other types of salumi that represent high quality cured meats that you may not have previously understood that fall into the Italian salumi family like; coppa, capacolla, bresaola, pepperoni, pancetta, mortadella, and much more.
All Italian meat products that what we call salumi, form an integral part in Italian regional cooking dishes, lending flavor for terrific antipasti and appetizer platters all the way to main courses. Served with bread, Italian salumi make for a perfect opener to an informal meal. Several regional Italian recipes call for bits of Italian pancetta, prosciutto, salami and/or other cured meats.
Our selection of salumi is from the John Volpi & Company, a leading domestic manufacturer of Italian cured meats made right down the street from the DITALIA facilities in St. Louis, Missouri and we are proud to be the official mail order partner of Volpi Salumi products. Furthermore, we offer Academia Barilla Prosciutto di Parma, which is what we feel is one the finest prosciutto’s available. Learn more and shop today in our Italian Salami and Prosciutto Store. |
