Italian Cold Weather Snacks

When it's cold outside, it's the perfect time to turn down the lights, pour yourself a glass of wine, and cook up a delicious snackiceddu (Sicilian-American slang for a little snack)! Sit back, relax, and check out a few of our favorite cold weather snacks.


Roasted Garlic In Balsamic

This snack is extremely simple and flavorful. Paired with a great balsamic, it's guaranteed to become a favorite!

Roasted Garlic

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Place unpeeled garlic cloves in a baking dish, sprinkle with some salt, add a dash of olive oil, and wrap the dish in foil. Place the garlic in the oven for 45 minutes. Let the garlic cool, then squeeze to release cloves into a small dish. Finish by drizzling a generous amount of balsamic over garlic and enjoy with toasted Tuscan bread.

Eggs in Sauce

Sauce is not just for pasta! Cook eggs in your favorite tomato sauce for a cold weather snack you'll make again and again.

Italian Sauce

Warm up your favorite sauce over medium heat and stir for a few minutes. Crack 3-4 eggs in the saucepan and cover with lid. Cook until yolk is no longer runny. When finished, remove eggs, grate fresh Parmigiano Reggiano on top, and enjoy! Don’t forget to keep a loaf of bread close by to scoop up that extra sauce!

Black Olive Spread on Warm Toast

This snack cannot get any easier… or more delicious! It is an easy go-to at any time of day.

For this snack, preheat oven to 250 degrees. Cut up a loaf of your favorite bread and place on a baking sheet. Lightly drizzle with extra virgin olive oil and place in oven until golden brown. Spread the Black Olive Spread on toast and enjoy!

Prosciutto-Wrapped Asparagus

This snack is a great go-to appetizer... and the asparagus makes it healthy, right?

Clean asparagus and cut off hard stem at the bottom. Wrap asparagus with prosciutto, using about half a slice per asparagus spear. Heat extra virgin olive oil in a large skillet over medium high heat. Add asparagus and cook until prosciutto is perfectly crispy, about 2-3 minutes. Arrange on a plate and mangia!
