Albano Carrisi, one of Italy’s most popular and successful singer songwriters, told his father Don Carmelo "I will leave. I will become a singer and when I return I will build and run a winery and dedicate it to you”. Albano Carrisi, better known as Al Bano, formed the pop duo sensation of Al Bano and Romina Power in the 70's and by the early 80's had world renowned hits of Felicita, Sharazan and Ci Sara. Al Bano kept his promise to Don Carmelo and created the Tenute Al Bano Carrisi estate in his hometown of Salento (Puglia) to produce traditional Puglia wines and extra virgin olive oil.
We are proud to be the first to offer this extra virgin olive oil obtained solely from three regional indigenous varietals of Carolea, Cellina and Leccino olives found on Tenute Al Bano estate. A distinguished aroma of fresh grass, green almonds, artichokes, and a light hint of tomato and apple. A balanced and medium fruity flavor intensity with a spicy and bitter taste and light sensations of artichoke, green almond and grass.
