AMARELLI | SKU: CND-108
Amarelli liquorice dates back as far as 1731. Bianconeri means "black and white." Each piece of black liquorice is coated in white vanilla mint. These delicious bits of liquorice are just what your mouth needs on a dry plane ride or to keep your throat happy during a concert. These small pieces of chewy licorice covered with a white mint coating come in a beautiful Old World decorative tin. Bianconeri is an excellent first introduction to Italian licorice.
The region of Calabria sits at the "toe" of the Italian boot, swaddled by the crystal blue water of the Ionian and Tyrrhenian Seas. Home to several National parks, the terrain here spans the gamut from warm beaches to dense forrest to high mountain vistas -- diversity that deeply influences the local cuisine. In Calabria, fresh vegetables, pasta, red meats and seafood make for a distinctive medley that draws on the best of Italian food tradition.
The Amarelli family of Rossano, Italy has been involved in licorice production since the 16th century. The current Amarelli plant was built in 1731, making it one of the oldest operating confectionaries in Italy. Today, Amarelli continues to produce candies, bastoncini and liquors from their estate-grown licorice roots.
